The Catacombs of Priscilla

North from Hotel Corallo taking the tube you can visit a true hidden gem, few really know because it’s out of th usual Roman itineraries: the breathtaking Catacombs of Priscilla on the Via Salaria, appreciated by everyone visiting  them. The catacombs were dug into the tuff from the second until the fifth century AD, and developed to reach nearly 12 miles of underground tunnels! This earned them the nickname "The Queen of the Catacombs" and in more recent (and profane) times they have attracted the strong interest from Google, which in 2013 made it the first Catacomb of Rome virtually visitable through their Google Maps Street View service. But this will never really substitute the physical visit and we at the Hotel Corallo strongly recommend it!
